Weekly 5-a-Side Football Keeps St. Benedict's Harps Connected During the Off-Season

While the competitive Gaelic football season may have come to a close, the activity certainly hasn't stopped at St. Benedict's Harps GAA.
Staying Active Between Gaelic Football Seasons
For many players, the off-season can be a difficult time to maintain fitness and stay involved in team sport. Our weekly 5-a-side games offer a fun, relaxed environment where players can keep moving, get plenty of touches on the ball and continue building connections within the club.
Whether you're preparing for next season's GAA campaign or simply looking for a regular way to stay active, the sessions provide a great balance between fitness, football and social interaction.
New Players Always Welcome
One of the key aims of the weekly football sessions is to introduce new people to the club.
St. Benedict's Harps welcomes:
-
Complete beginners
-
Gaelic footballers
-
Players new to Leeds
-
University graduates and students staying in Yorkshire
-
Anyone looking to join a friendly sports club
You don't need any previous experience of Gaelic football to get involved. If you can kick a ball and enjoy being part of a team, you'll fit right in.
Our members come from across Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Harrogate, York, Pontefract, Castleford and the wider Yorkshire region, creating a diverse and welcoming club environment that continues to grow every season.
More Than Just Football
St. Benedict's Harps has always been about more than results on the pitch. The club prides itself on offering a strong social and community network for players living and working throughout Yorkshire.
Many people initially join one of our football sessions to improve their fitness, but quickly discover the wider benefits of becoming part of a Gaelic Athletic Association club. Whether it's training, social events, fundraising activities or representing the club in competition, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
For those who have recently moved to Leeds, joining the Harps can also be a fantastic way to meet new people and connect with the local Irish community.
Growing Gaelic Football in Leeds
As interest in Gaelic football in Leeds continues to grow, St. Benedict's Harps remains committed to welcoming players of all backgrounds and abilities. Our weekly 5-a-side sessions form an important part of that commitment, creating an accessible pathway into the sport before players transition into full Gaelic football training and competition.
The club continues to promote GAA in Leeds, helping introduce Ireland's national games to new audiences across Yorkshire while strengthening the existing Gaelic football community.
