The 2026 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship came to a thrilling conclusion on Sunday as Mayo were crowned All-Ireland champions, ending years of heartbreak to lift the Sam Maguire Cup in front of a packed Croke Park.

Firstly, we'd like to congratulate all of our members, supporters and friends with Mayo connections on Sunday's All-Ireland victory. We know many people within St. Benedict's Harps, and across the wider Irish community in Leeds, proudly call Mayo home, so it was fantastic to see the green and red lifting the Sam Maguire Cup. And let's not forget our commiserations to those Kerry supporters who were cheering on the Kingdom to their 40th title.

Overall, it was a brilliant occasion for Gaelic football, and Irish sport more widely, and one that will live long in the memory of Mayo supporters. We hope everyone celebrating in Leeds, Yorkshire and further afield enjoyed a well-deserved day of celebrations.

If you've ever wanted to play Gaelic football in Leeds, St. Benedict's Harps GAA Club welcomes players of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Our club has proudly represented the Irish community in Leeds since 1983 and continues to provide a welcoming environment for anyone looking to get involved in the GAA. While our green and red colours might feel particularly fitting after Mayo's memorable victory, our doors are open to supporters of every county, and to those who are completely new to Gaelic games.

You don't need any previous experience to join us.

Our training sessions are designed to be enjoyable, inclusive and suitable for players of every ability. Experienced teammates and coaches are always happy to help newcomers learn the skills of the game, and many of our current players first arrived having never played Gaelic football before.
